PPE Detection for Workplace Safety

MachSoft develops computer-vision applications that identify selected personal protective equipment, such as hard hats and high-visibility vests, from camera images or video. Detection rules are defined around the work area and application requirements.

APPLICATION EXAMPLE

Bring PPE detection into existing camera streams

A computer-vision application evaluates selected PPE items visible in a camera view and supports the review of defined safety conditions. Visible equipment conditions can be turned into image-based outputs that operators can review.

The items to detect, the work zones to consider and how results are used are defined around the site requirements.

  • Selected equipment such as hard hats and high-visibility vests
  • Detection rules based on camera coverage and defined work zones
  • Event review and reporting connections when included in scope

DETECTION SCOPE

Focus on required PPE and site rules

The application is configured around visible targets and review conditions agreed for the work area.

Hard-hat detection

Identify visible hard hats in the camera view and evaluate selected PPE conditions.

High-visibility vests

Detect selected high-visibility vests where viewing and image conditions are suitable.

Work-zone rules

Relate detections to defined zones when camera coverage and agreed scope support those rules.

Event review

Present selected results for operator review or reporting when included in the project.

SYSTEM INTEGRATION

Connect detection results to site workflows

Where camera access and suitable interfaces are available, detection results can be passed to an operator interface, reporting application or existing monitoring system. Which events are surfaced and how they are handled are defined within the application scope.

Camera and video sources

Review camera coverage, image quality and available video sources.

Event visibility

Present detections that require review in a workflow operators can follow.

Monitoring and reporting

Connect to suitable existing interfaces according to project requirements.

SITE CONDITIONS

Evaluate performance under real camera conditions

Camera angle, distance, lighting, image resolution, occlusion and PPE variations can affect detection results. Targets and evaluation criteria should therefore be validated with images that represent the intended site whenever possible. The system is designed to support visual monitoring, not to replace safety procedures or human supervision.
